Canazei (1460 m.) is the tourist resort ‘par excellence’ of the Valley. Together with the small surrounding villages of Gries, Alba and Penìa it is famous mainly for its strategic position in terms of the Dolomite Passes – Pordoi, Sella and Fedaia.
Canazei is situated among the most important Dolomite groups and offers guests the opportunity to spend wonderful days in the largest and most extraordinary ski carousel, Dolomiti Superski, with the chance to move quickly around the best ski slopes in Europe as well as reaching the bordering regions of South Tyrol and Veneto.
Belvedere, Ciampac and Marmolada, the “Queen of the Dolomites”, guarantee a vast number of ski-lifts, paths and climbing routes to fully satisfy the tourist who at the end of the day can relax in one of the many wellness centres and also have a taste of the après ski night life in the local pubs and bars.
Downhill and cross-country skiing slopes, a snowpark, an ice-stadium, bike parks, swimming pool, walks, endless sports and fun are the answer to the needs of mountain lovers who make Canazei a true reference point for tourists from all over the world.
Other International events which bring ski-mountaineering and sky running lovers to high altitude are the Sellaronda Skimarathon and the Dolomites Skyrace.
During summer the town is filled with a special atmosphere thanks to some events such as “Te anter i tobié” and the “Gran Festa da d’Istà” which liven up village life with music, dancing, local dishes and traditional costumes.
