Vigo di Fassa

During the past this was the political, civil and religious centre of the old and independent Comunità Generale di Fassa, seat of Capitains and valley judges. The village is situated on a large natural terrace presenting a dominant position upon the valley and a panoramic sight.

Vigo, both in summer and winter time, is the privileged starting point for dozen of excursions. Through its modern cableway Catinaccio you can reach the natural terrace of Ciampedìe, a platform of rare beauty on the surrounding mountains.

A modern planned snow system, assures a perfect snow covering from the month of November. This is a required area for many ski teams trainings.

Vigo is also the seat of the Istituto Culturale Ladino, a rich centre working to study and protect the Ladin culture and that, in recent times is assisting to a complete reaffirmation towards the local community. The municipality of Vigo also administers the minor hamlets of San Giovanni, Larcionè, Vallonga and Tamion, preserving some undamaged architectural buildings belonging to the Ladin culture.
